About
Catherine completed an honours degree in Electrical Engineering at University College, Cork in 1989. Following that, she worked with Digital Equipment Corporation in Clonmel, Galway, and Ayr, Scotland, as a Manufacturing Support Engineer and New Products Engineer, and then spent a year in AT&T Global Information Solutions in Dublin as a Test Engineer. She subsequently moved to the IT department at American Power Conversion in Galway as a Senior Systems Analyst. In 1998, she started a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering and Information Systems Analysis and Design in the Computer Integrated Manufacturing Research Unit (CIMRU) at NUIG. During this time, she was involved in consulting activities with the AMT Ireland group, based at CIMRU, working on a number of projects on the Enterprise Ireland Environmentally Superior Products pilot scheme. She completed her Master's degree in 2000, with a thesis entitled "Performance Measurement for Environmentally Superior Products". In October 2000, she commenced a PhD with the Department of Information Technology at NUIG, where she is currently working on the IP2000 project.
Research Interests
Supply chain modelling, agent-based modelling, complex adaptive systems, supply chain optimisation.
